How to Make a Quiz on Google Classroom

Google Classroom is a digital hub where students, teachers and supporters can both engage and collaborate. You can create easy-to-use quizzes and assignments, along with supporting material, in just a few clicks. All you need is a free Google account.

Make Quiz Tasks in Google Classroom

To get started, open your web browser, and go to class.google.com. Log in to your Google account, then create a class or click on an existing one. Once you are in class, click the “Class Work” tab, click “Create,” and then select “Quiz Tasks.”

1
Quiz assignment forms are identical to basic assignment options, with the addition of a blank Google Form that will function as your quiz. You can use assignments and quizzes later.

In the quiz assignment menu, give your quiz title, and then provide additional instructions, if necessary.

2

Click “Add” if you want to attach files from Google Drive, web links, your computer or YouTube. You can also click “Create” to automatically create and attach files from Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Drawings, or Forms.

For additional attachments, click the drop-down menu within each assignment to choose whether students can view or edit the file. You can also choose to make a copy of the file for each student.

3

If you attach any file other than the initial blank quiz on Google Forms, Grade import is automatically disabled. This feature sends Quiz results to the Class tab on the main page of your class. If you want to disable this feature with just one attachment, turn off the “Importing” Off option.

You can use the drop-down menu on the left to select recipients, set the Quiz point value, and due date. You can also associate your Quiz with existing topics or create new ones. If you want to add customizable criteria that you will use to evaluate submissions, click “Rubric.”

Finally, select the “Originality Report” checkbox if you want to check the shipment for possible plagiarism. Note that free Google Classroom accounts are limited to three original reports per class.

Customize Your Quiz Tasks in Google Classroom

Click “Blank Quiz” to adjust your quiz on Google Forms.

This opens your quiz in a separate window. All changes you make will be saved automatically. When you load your first Google Form, you are given a quick tour of the interface.

Click the title field to edit the name of your quiz form, and then type your question in the question field. By default, the first question will be set as “Multiple Choice.”

To change it, click the drop-down menu on the right. You can then turn your question into a short answer, check box, drop-down, grid, date, or time. You can also use the sidebar on the right to add or import questions, sections, or files.

5
After you add all your questions, close your browser window. Back in the Google Classroom quiz assignment window, click “Assign” at the top right. Select the arrow next to “Assign” if you want to save the quiz as a draft or schedule it for the future.

When your Quiz is ready, it appears in the list under the Classwork tab of your class. There, you can also see how many students submitted it. Click “View Task” to open a more detailed view.

6

Quiz Options in Google Classroom are an easy way for students and teachers to get involved, and set and complete courses. You can also use this form to create surveys, essays and more.
